How a remote session works

  1. You plug an inexpensive OBD-II reader (ELM327 / Bluetooth dongle) into the port under the dash — we can recommend one.
  2. We hop on a video call. You share the fault codes and live data from your phone app, or point your camera at the screen.
  3. We interpret the codes and live readings in real time, pinpoint the likely cause, and tell you whether it's a DIY fix or a garage job.
  4. You get a written summary with parts, costs and next steps — no jargon.

Frequently asked

What do I need for a remote session?
A cheap OBD-II reader (an ELM327 Bluetooth dongle is around £10–15), a smartphone with a free scanner app, and a way to video call us — that's it. We'll send you a short setup guide when you book, and we can recommend a dongle that works well with Land Rovers.
Can you actually fix my car remotely?
We can't turn a bolt from here — but we can accurately diagnose the fault, tell you exactly what's wrong, and either guide you through a DIY repair or give you a fair parts-and-labour figure so you're never overcharged. Many suspension, sensor and electrical issues are very DIY-friendly with guidance.
Is the online fault checker a real diagnosis?
It's a genuinely useful first indication built from common Land Rover fault patterns, but it isn't a substitute for reading your specific vehicle's live data. Use it to understand the likely problem and severity, then book a session so we can confirm it properly before you spend money on parts.
Do you only work on Range Rovers?
No — we cover the whole current and recent range: Defender, Discovery and Discovery Sport, Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Evoque, Velar and Freelander, petrol and diesel.
How much is a workshop diagnostic?
£89 for a full dealer-level scan, road test and written report — and that fee comes straight off the bill if you go ahead with the repair with us.
Can you give a second opinion on another garage's quote?
Absolutely — it's one of the most popular reasons people book a remote session. Share the codes and the quote and we'll tell you honestly whether it's fair and necessary.
